When Paul Finch of Wantage started his business – Finch Flooring – 30 years ago he did so because fitting carpets and all sorts of other floor coverings was something he thoroughly enjoyed, did well, and wanted to make his career. All these years later Paul is still just as enthusiastic and driven to be the best floor fitter he can be. Although he now has employees, Paul has kept Finch Flooring local to within a 12 mile radius of Wantage because he likes to personally be involved in every project. As a result, his business is well known in the town and surrounding villages, and he’s never without customers who happily recommend his services.

Floor Covering Fitter of the Year Contest

Paul Finch is a member and approved fitter of the NICF (National Institute of Carpet and Floorlayers), the body that promotes and assesses professional standards in the industry in the UK, and provides premier training courses in conjunction with the Contract Flooring Association. Paul passed his Master Fitter assessment qualification through the Flooring Industry Training Association early on in his career and since then has participated in several NICF Floorcovering Fitter of the Year competitions, reaching a top spot in the finals in 1998, 2000 and 2016.

Paul believes firmly that putting himself forward for his work to be assessed, marked and scrutinised by experts in the field of floor fitting is essential to keep him on his toes, and make sure his standards never slip.

Over the years, with business flourishing, Paul is part of an amazing family who love living in their home town of Wantage, where they participate in all sorts of community events and activities.
